Career Events
At City Pay it Forward we open doors for young people by giving them direct access to careers they might once have thought were out of reach. From discovering pathways into finance with mentors in the Square Mile to stepping into a real courtroom alongside High Court judges, our events show what is possible when learning becomes lived experience.
Financial literacy on its own is important, but it is only one part of preparing for life beyond school. Knowing how money works means little without a sense of where a career can lead, how employability skills are developed, and what opportunities actually exist. That is why focusing on careers and employability is a natural extension of our mission: the two reinforce each other, building confidence, ambition and resilience in equal measure.
These moments not only build knowledge but also spark aspiration, helping students imagine futures they had not considered before. By connecting professionals with the next generation, we break barriers, create opportunities and give young people the tools to thrive.
Careers in Law
Ever wondered what it’s like to argue a case in a real courtroom before High Court judges?
At City Pay it Forward, we believe that experiential learning is the key to inspiring future leaders, especially in financial literacy and career readiness. Our recent Careers in Law event, part of our Careers in Action program, exemplified this mission, offering students direct exposure to the legal profession in a dynamic, real-world setting.
Event Highlights:
– Speed networking with a broad range of accomplished legal professionals
– Engaging discussions with High Court judges on legal careers and the judiciary
– Mock trial in a real courtroom at the Guildhall Magistrates’ Court
– Invaluable insights into careers in law—from corporate to human rights law

With young minds taking on roles as barristers, solicitors, defendants, and witnesses, this event wasn’t just about learning, it was about experiencing the law in action.
By immersing students in these practical experiences, we aim to inspire, educate, and equip the next generation with the insights and confidence needed to pursue careers in law.
At City Pay It Forward, we are committed to breaking barriers, creating opportunities, and empowering students with real-world experiences that open doors and build futures.
Women in Finance Career Event
“I previously thought I couldn’t access jobs in the finance industry, but now I feel like I can”
What wonderful feedback to have received from sixth forms girls after we invited over 100 of them from disadvantaged backgrounds to attend a careers day learning about paths into the City of London.
City Pay it Forward and The Worshipful Company of Drapers were proud to host A-level students from ten schools for an inspiring day with mentors, giving them firsthand insight into careers in finance. The panel shared their stories which resonated with everyone present, leaving both students and mentors with valuable takeaways.
At City Pay it Forward, our mission is to make a meaningful impact by connecting City professionals with young people to share their knowledge of personal finance, careers, and much more. This event was a true testament to the power of collaboration and the difference we can make when we work together.
